Icon Mother of God"Guide of sinners"

"The guarantor of sinners", the icon of the Mother of God. The celebration takes place on March 7 (March 20), May 29 (June 11), Thursday of the 1st week of Pentecost.

It is named after the inscription preserved on the icon: "I am the guarantor of sinners to my Son ...".

For the first time this image became famous for miracles in Nikolaevsky Odrin monastery Oryol province in the middle of the last century. The ancient icon of the Mother of God "The guarantor of sinners" did not enjoy proper veneration due to its dilapidation and stood in the old chapel at the monastery gates. But in 1843, it was revealed to many residents in dreams that this icon was endowed, according to God's Providence, with miraculous power. The icon was solemnly transferred to the church. Believers began to flock to her and ask for the healing of their sorrows and illnesses. The first to be healed was a paralyzed boy whose mother fervently prayed in front of this shrine. The icon became especially famous during the cholera epidemic, when many terminally ill people who came to her with faith, she brought back to life.

A large three-altar church was built in the monastery in honor of the miraculous image. On the icon “Guide of sinners”, the Mother of God is depicted with the Infant on her left hand, Who holds Her right hand with both of His hands. The heads of the Mother of God and the Child are crowned with crowns.

In 1848, due to the diligence of the Muscovite Dimitry Boncheskul, a copy of this miraculous image was made and placed in his house. Soon he became famous for the outflow of healing world, which gave many people recovery from serious illnesses. This miraculous list was transferred to the church of St. Nicholas in Khamovniki, in which a chapel was built at the same time in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "The guarantor of sinners."

Prayer one

To whom shall I cry, Lady, to whom shall I resort in my sorrow, if not to Thee, Queen of Heaven? Who will receive my crying and my sighing and quickly listen to our prayers, if not You, All-good Servant, Joy of all our joys? Hear the current hymns and prayers, and about me a sinner brought to you. And wake me Mother and Patroness and Your joys to all of us Giver. Arrange my life, as if you are good and as if you weigh. I entrust myself to Your cover and providence, and joyfully always sing to You with everyone: Rejoice, Gracious; rejoice, delighted one. Rejoice, Blessed One; rejoice, glorified forever.Amen.

Prayer two

My Blessing Queen, My Most Holy Hope, Guarantee of sinners! Behold, the poor sinner is before You! Do not leave me, abandoned by everyone, do not forget me, forgotten by everyone, give me joy, to the ignorant of joy. Oh, my troubles and sorrows are heavy! Oh, my sins are immeasurable! Like the darkness of the night is my life. And there is not a single strong help in the sons of men. You are my only hope. You are my One Cover, Refuge and Affirmation. I boldly stretch out my weak hands to Thee and pray: have mercy on me, All-good, spare Thy Son redeemed by the Blood, quench the sickness of my much-sighing soul, tame the rage of those who hate and offend me, raise my fading strength, renew, like eagles, my youth, do not let them weaken in doing the commandments of God. Prayers to the Most Holy Theotokos in front of Her icon, called "The guarantor of sinners"

Rejoice, Blessed One; rejoice, glorified forever. Amen.

Touch my confused soul with heavenly fire and fulfill my shameless faith, unfeigned love and known hopes. May I always sing and glorify Thee, the Most Blessed Intercessor of the world, our Protector and Guarantee of all of us sinners, and I worship Thy Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with His Beginningless Father and the Life-giving Holy Spirit forever and ever. O all-merciful Lady, give me a helping hand and ask Your Son and God with your motherly and most holy prayers for forgiveness of my grave sins. Prayer

You are my only cover, refuge and affirmation. Boldly I stretch out my weak hands to You and pray: have mercy on me, All-good, have mercy, have mercy on Your Son redeemed by the Blood, quench the sickness of my much-sighing soul, tame the rage of those who hate and offend me, restore my fading strength, renew, like eagles, my youth , do not let you weaken in doing the commandments of God. Touch my confused soul with heavenly fire and fulfill my shameless faith, unfeigned love and known hopes. May I always sing and glorify Thee, the Most Blessed Intercessor of the world, our Protection and Guarantee of all of us sinners, and I bow down to Thy Son and our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, with His Beginningless Father and the Life-giving Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

Icon of the Mother of God "Guarantee of sinners"

“The guarantor of sinners”, the miraculous icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, was in the male Odrin Nikolaev monastery of the Oryol diocese, where she became famous for miracles in the 1840s. A list from it is available in the Moscow Nikolo-Khamovniki Church, where in 1848, the icon became famous for the light seen from it at night, the outflow of the world and many miracles. On both icons Holy Mother of God and Baby Jesus are depicted wearing crowns.

The name of the icon serves as an expression of Her many different grace-filled love for the sinful human race, which She has shown at all times. This love is also indicated by the inscription on the icon of the Mother of God: “I am the guarantor of sinners to My Son,” etc.

In the Nikolaevsky Odrinsky Monastery, the icon of the Mother of God "The guarantor of sinners" for a long time was in obscurity, stood in a dilapidated chapel and so dim that it was difficult to read the inscriptions. The miraculous healing from her, received by the two-year-old son of the merchant Pochepina Timothy, who suffered from painful seizures, prompted him to pay special attention to the icon. The icon was taken from the chapel, washed and placed in the monastery. Then many miracles happened from this icon. The grace-filled power of the Mother of God was manifested to an even greater degree and clarity on the list from the miraculous icon of the Odrinsky Monastery, brought in 1848 by the Odrinsk hieromonk Smaragd as a gift from the monastery for his hospitality to Lieutenant Colonel Boncheskul, who lived in the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Khamovniki. The brought copy was placed by Boncheskul in the home iconostasis. This year, the first healing from this icon was received by the merchant Shcherbakov from a disease of the spinal cord. In the same year, on the first day of Pascha, Boncheskul began to notice that the icon of the Mother of God “The guarantor of sinners” in his possession had become very shiny and, as it were, glass, and during his prayer some kind of reflection flickered on the icon. About a week later, fragrant oily drops began to appear on the icon, and all the sick who used them began to receive healing from their illnesses. On May 30 of the same year, Boncheskul donated the icon of the Mother of God to the parish church of Nikolo-Khamovnicheskaya, where it was placed on a lectern near the kliros. Soon strange phenomena began to occur in the altar, on a mountainous place: at night various phenomena of fire or light were visible in the form of stars, sometimes bright, sometimes dim. This was repeated in the following days, at the same hours, and from June 4, drops of oil began to appear again and in greater numbers. On the occasion of extraordinary phenomena, crowds of people, both at night and during the day, flocked to the Nikolo-Khamovniki Church - at night to observe the light appearing in the altar of the church, and during the day to perform prayers before the icon. Most of all, the many miracles that were performed from it served to glorify the icon. All miraculous healings claimed and recorded during the first six years are over 115.

Here is one of them. In the village of Nachatina, near the village of Kolomenskoye near Moscow, lived the peasant Egor Kurenkov. Although he confessed Orthodox faith, but in his soul he was quite far from it: he was constantly tormented by grave doubts about faith. In search for the resolution of his doubts and perplexities, he even went to the Starodub Old Believer monasteries and settlements. He also went to worship the saints in Kiev, visited the far north, in the Solovetsky monastery, and entered into conversations with hermits about faith and piety. However, until then he could not sincerely and deeply believe until the Lord Himself enlightened him.

Once, after working with the whole family in the field, one of his two sons, Semyon, fell dangerously ill. For several days he was without memory: he did not say anything and did not feel anything. The frightened father came to the priest and asked him to give communion to his son. However, all the efforts of the priest to bring Semyon to his senses were in vain, and he declared that it was impossible to confess or take communion to the patient, since he was in an insensible state. But he consoled his bitterly grieving relatives, saying to them: “God is merciful. He builds everything for our benefit. His ways are unknown and incomprehensible to us! There are many sorrows and illnesses in our life, but not every illness leads to death!”

Knowing that Semyon's father was still very far from establishing himself in Orthodoxy with all his heart and all his thoughts, and especially in the veneration of holy icons of not only ancient, but also new writing, he advised his relatives to go to the Nikolo-Khamovniki Church, where two weeks from the holy icon of the Mother of God "The guarantor of sinners", a new, picturesque, painted no more than three years, very many patients who flow to her with faith receive healing. The priest advised them in the evening to pray more fervently to the Lord and the Queen of Heaven: “She, the Lady and Intercessor of the Christian race, never refused anyone who came to her with warm faith. Make a vow to write an icon of the same letter in your home, and honor it as a pledge of your faith and your sincere obedience to the Orthodox Church.

Early in the morning, the parents, together with the sick Semyon, went to Khamovniki. When they drove up, in the Nikolaevskaya church they struck for an early mass. This ringing of the bell seemed to father and mother a joyful greeting. In a church full of people, the father hardly made his way to ask the clerk to help bring the sick person to the church. As soon as the patient touched the church platform, he shuddered violently and felt the return of his strength. He was led to the lectern, where the miraculous image of the Mother of God lay. The clerk three times asked the patient to cross himself, but he was silent: although he looked, he still did not see or hear anything. Then the patient's mother, taking his hand and folding her fingers for prayer, crossed her face with his own hand and, together with her husband, bowed it to the ground. Parents lifted Seeds from the floor and brought him to the icon. The patient unconsciously touched her, and when his parents wanted to rebaptize him, he suddenly said loudly: “I am healthy.” At these words, the patient himself crossed himself.

Filled with tears, the parents fell before the icon of the Mother of God and from the depths of their souls thanked the Lady for the healing of their son, and then, having served a thanksgiving service, they also stood for the Liturgy. The healed Semyon, together with his parents, returned home, to the surprise and joy of his relatives and friends: in the morning he was taken away from the house almost dead, and by noon they brought him completely healthy. So Semyon got rid of his bodily illness, and his parents got rid of their mental illness, or unbelief. They did not forget the vow given to the priest, and they painted the icon "Guest of sinners."

In the Trinity Cathedral of the Resurrection Trinity Koretsky convent its main shrine is located - the Koretsk Icon of the Mother of God "The guarantor of sinners", before which another akathist "The guarantor of sinners" is read with the refrain: "Rejoice, guarantor of sinners, I will take out your hands for us as an assignment to God."

The ancient blessed icon of the Mother of God "The guarantor of sinners", Koretskaya, has been kept in the monastery since the 17th century. Since ancient times, the icon was located in the castle of the Koretsky princes and bore the name “Blessed”. When the last of the Orthodox princes of Korets, Samuil, was taken prisoner by the Turks in 1622 and killed in Istanbul, his brother John, who had become a Catholic under the compulsion of the Latins, offered his sister Abbess Seraphim to take the icon from the prince's chapel to the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Koretsky maiden monastery . The ceremonial transfer of the blessed icon "Guest of Sinners" took place in 1622, on the Thursday after the feast of the Holy Trinity. On this day, a celebration was established in honor of the icon, which is solemnly celebrated to the present. After the return of the ruins of the Holy Trinity Monastery to the Koretsky Holy Resurrection Monastery and its consecration on August 12, 1880, the icon "Guest of Sinners" was transferred and arranged in a carved wooden icon case near the left front column of the Holy Trinity Church.

Prayer two before the icon of the guarantor of sinners

My Blessing Queen, My Most Holy Hope, Guarantee of sinners! Behold, the poor sinner is before You! Do not leave me, abandoned by everyone, do not forget me, forgotten by everyone, give me joy, to the ignorant of joy. Oh, my troubles and sorrows are heavy! Oh, my sins are immeasurable! Like the darkness of the night is my life. And there is not a single strong help in the sons of men. You are my only hope. You are my One Cover, Refuge and Affirmation. Boldly I stretch out my weak hands to You and pray: have mercy on me, All-good, spare Your Son redeemed by the Blood, quench the sickness of my much-sighing soul, tame the rage of those who hate and offend me, raise my fading strength, renew, like eagles, my youth, not let them weaken in doing the commandments of God. The third prayer before the icon of the guarantor of sinners

O Blessed Lady, protector of the Christian race, refuge and salvation of those who flow to You! We know, we truly know, as if I have sinned and angered, Merciful to the Lady, the Son of God, born of the flesh of You: but I have many images of those who have angered His goodness before me: publicans, harlots and other sinners, but they have been given forgiveness of their sins, for the sake of repentance and confession. You are, therefore, the images of my sinful souls pardoned by the eyes of my soul, and to the great mercy of God, which they received, looking, boldly, and as a sinner, resort with repentance to Your mercy. O all-merciful Lady, give me a helping hand and ask Your Son and God with your motherly and most holy prayers for forgiveness of my grave sins. I believe and, like the One, Thou didst give birth to Him, Thy Son, is truly Christ, the Son of the Living God, Judge of the living and the dead, reward anyone according to his deeds. I still believe you to be the true Mother of God, the Source of mercy, the Consolation of the weeping, the Seeking of the lost, the strong and unceasing Intercessor to God, who deeply loves the Christian race, and the guarantor of repentance. Truly, there is no other help and protection for a person, except for You, the Merciful Lady, and no one trusting in You being ashamed when, and begging God for You, no one was left behind. For this reason, I pray Your innumerable goodness: open the doors of Your mercy to me, lost and fallen into the darkness of the depths, do not disdain me filthy, do not despise my sinful prayer, do not leave me accursed, as if in perdition the evil enemy is looking for me to steal, but beg for me born from Thee, Thy merciful Son and God, may my great sins be forgiven, and deliver me from my destruction: as if I, with all those who have received forgiveness, I will sing and glorify the immeasurable mercy of God and Your shameless intercession for me in this life and in an endless age. Amen.

The icon of the guarantor of sinners got its name from the content of one of the scrolls located in the four corners of the icon: "I am the guarantor of sinners to my Son." The guarantor - means the Guarantee before Jesus Christ for sinning people, the vigilant Intercessor and Prayer Book for them.
In 1844, Pochepin's merchant's wife came to the monastery where the icon of the Servant of Sinners was located (Nikolo-Odrinsky Monastery near the town of Karachev, Oryol Province) with her two-year-old son, who suffered from severe seizures, and asked to serve a moleben before the icon of the Servant of Sinners. A prayer service was served, and the sick child recovered. Soon other miraculous signs followed from the icon. Since then, the image of the Mother of God in the Nikolo-Odrinsky Monastery has been considered miraculous. The icon was especially famous for its healings during the cholera epidemic in 1847/48.
In 1846, the hieromonk of the Odrin Monastery was sent to Moscow to build a chasuble on the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, the guarantor of sinners, where he was sheltered by Lieutenant Colonel D. N. Boncheskul. In gratitude for his hospitality, an exact list (copy) of the miraculous icon, made on a lime board, was sent from the Audrino Monastery.
D. Boncheskul reverently placed the received icon of the guarantor of sinners with other icons in the home iconostasis. Soon everyone began to notice that an unusual brilliance flickered over the icon of the Vicarious of Sinners, and drops of oily moisture began to flow from the very image. Several sick people were anointed with this moisture, and they were healed. From all sides, the sick began to come to the icon, they prayed before it and received healing.
In 1848, Lieutenant Colonel Boncheskul donated his icon of the "Guest of Sinners" to the parish church of St. Nicholas in Khamovniki. The outflow of an oily liquid from the icon continued, and the deacon, who stood by the icon, wiped off the moisture with paper and distributed it to the people. Soon the flow of myrrh ceased, but phenomena of unusual light began to appear in the altar of the church in the form of stars appearing and disappearing. The icon became famous for many officially recorded healings.
At present, the miraculous icons of the Mother of God, the guarantor of sinners, are located in the Nikolo-Odrinsk hermitage in the village of Odrino, Karachevsky district, Bryansk region, and in Moscow in the church of St.

Prayer

O Blessed Lady, Defender of the Christian race, refuge and salvation of those who flow to You! We know, we truly know, as if I have sinned and angered, Merciful to the Lady, the Son of God, born of the flesh of You, but I have many images of those who have angered His goodness before me: publicans, harlots and other sinners, who have been given forgiveness of their sins, for the sake of repentance and confession. You are, therefore, the images of my sinful souls pardoned by the eyes of my soul, and presenting to the great mercy of God, which they received, looking, daring and az, a sinner, resort with repentance to Your goodness. O All-Merciful Lady, give me a helping hand and ask Your Son and Mother God and Your most holy prayers for forgiveness of my grave sin. I believe and confess that the One Whom You gave birth to, Your Son, is truly Christ, the Son of the Living God, Judge of the living and the dead, reward anyone according to his deeds. I still believe and confess to you to be the true Mother of God, the source of mercy, the consolation of those who cry, the search for the lost, the strong and unceasing Intercessor to God, who loves the Christian race, and the guarantor of repentance. Truly, there is no other help and protection for a person, except for You, the Merciful Lady, and no one, trusting in You, being ashamed when and, begging God for You, no one was left behind. For this reason, I pray Your innumerable goodness: open the doors of Your mercy to me, who have erred and fallen into the darkness of the depths; to me your merciful Son and God, born of Thee, may my great sins be forgiven and deliver me from my harm; as if yes, and with all those who have received forgiveness, I will sing and glorify the immeasurable mercy of God and Your shameless intercession for me in this life and in an endless age. Amen.
